In October’s Yin Yoga sessions with Sheri, we will focus on gentle, heart-opening poses to encourage the flow of love, compassion, and healing energy. This practice will help participants connect with themselves on a deeper emotional level while releasing tension stored in the heart center.

The Anahata Chakra, also known as the Heart Chakra, is the fourth chakra in the energy system of the body. It is located at the center of the chest, near the heart, and is associated with love, compassion, and emotional balance. Here are the key elements of the heart chakra:

  • Color: Green
  • Location: Center of the chest, near the heart
  • Attributes: Compassion, empathy, love for others and self, emotional healing, balance, and peace. The heart chakra governs how we relate to others and how we express and receive love.

Signs of a Balanced Heart Chakra:

  • You feel a deep connection with yourself and others.
  • You can give and receive love freely.
  • You practice forgiveness, both of others and yourself.
  • You experience a sense of inner peace and compassion.

Imbalances in the Heart Chakra:

  • Emotional instability, difficulty in relationships, and fear of intimacy.
  • Feelings of jealousy, loneliness, or grief.
  • Being overly defensive or closed off to others.

Ways to Balance the Heart Chakra:

  • Practice heart-opening yoga poses such as Camel Pose, Cobra Pose, and Bridge Pose.
  • Focus on deep, mindful breathing.
  • Engage in acts of kindness, self-love, and forgiveness.
  • Meditate on love and compassion, and practice gratitude.
